The world that the child made

on Sep 5, 2013

Little boy, you stood at the edge of the earth and looked to the stars

You reached your hand and took them in your grasp

You pulled them close and breathed your life into them

One by one you placed them, brighter, into the gaps

Little boy, you smiled at the edge of the earth and felt the breeze

You waved your arms and laughed into the air

With each pulse you stirred up the clouds and sent them away

Your breath pushing, guiding them to quench the thirst of the dust

Little boy, you dreamed at the edge of the earth and made it true

You shouted with spoken words unbound by time

Your tongue moved and danced and the flowers bloomed

Each brighter than the one that came before it

Little boy, you walked at the edge of the earth and touched the darkness

You cracked it so deeply that only light could be seen

As it poured through your hands and through your feet

And tore down the divides that stood between

Little boy, you danced at the edge of the earth to that song

You danced in your father’s site and he gave you all that was his

With the power to lift the moon and move the waves

The gift so complete was so full of your name it was formed by it.

Little boy, you stand at the edge of the earth looking to people that walked it

You reach down with you hand and take them in your grasp

You pull them close and breathe your life into them

One by one you place them, whiter than snow, back into the gaps
